A single inn high in the Nishi-Chugoku mountains whose case rests on the water: the house states its radon content runs at 80-100 mache, which it puts at twelve to thirteen times the threshold for a therapeutic spring. It is colourless and odourless, so there is nothing to see or smell - the character is in the numbers rather than the senses. A view open-air bath, a wood-and-stone indoor bath and a steam bath. Day bathing is weekends only, and getting here without a car means two buses and most of two hours.

Saturdays 10:00-20:00; Sundays and public holidays 10:00-17:00. Day-use bathing is weekend-only as published, and the inn notes that winter and other periods vary - check before travelling.

Getting there
In Yoshiwa, the highest and most remote corner of Hatsukaichi City, in the Nishi-Chugoku mountains. Reaching it without a car takes two buses and about 100 minutes: a Hiroden / Hatsukaichi municipal bus on the Saiki line from JR Miyauchi-Kushido Station to Saiki Bunka Center (about 40 minutes), then the Yoshiwa Sakura Bus to the 'Ushiobara Onsen' stop (about 60 minutes), plus a 10-20 minute wait between them. Iwami Kotsu highway buses from Hiroshima Station north exit reach Yoshiwa SA in about 90 minutes, from where the inn will collect you in 10 minutes. By car it is about 90 minutes from the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, 60 from Miyajima and 30 from Sandankyo gorge.
