- DO NOT TRAVEL HERE FOR A BATH. The lodging, hot spring and restaurant stopped operating on 1 April 2026 after more than thirty years, with the operator citing the cost of overdue refurbishment on top of rising fuel and labour costs. The adjoining Megahira ski resort is still due to run in coming seasons, and the operator, Nakamoto Zorin, says it is considering how to use the buildings, possibly for the winter season - so this may reopen in some form, but there is no bath to use now. Travel sites still list it as operating. In Yoshiwa, Hatsukaichi City, about 7 minutes by car from Ushiobara Onsen Matsukawa, which is open.
