A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.

Day visit price: Not confirmed
Closed indefinitely from 1 April 2026 because the spring flow has kept dropping. Before the closure the viewing rock bath was 500 yen and the private family bath 1,500 yen per hour. Travel sites still list it as open.
Staying overnight: No
Getting there: In the Myoban district, run by the Okamotoya shop famous for its jigoku-mushi pudding. Buses 5, 41 or 24 from JR Beppu Station to Myoban.
