You book the whole bath house for 2,500 yen an hour and the tub holds about eight people, so it is cheap for a group. The undiluted chloride water measures 387 mg/L of metasilicic acid, far above the usual skin-beautifying threshold, and the site also runs jigoku-mushi steam cooking and bamboo-craft workshops in the middle of Kannawa.

The baths

Private (kashikiri) bath

'Enma no Yu' is a single private bath house, so the large tub is yours alone. 100% source water with nothing added; chloride spring measured at 387.2 mg/L metasilicic acid, far above the 100 mg/L usually quoted for a skin-beautifying water, and weakly acidic at around pH 3.3-3.9. There is also a free foot bath, and the site runs jigoku-mushi steam cooking and bamboo-craft workshops.

Open to day visitors

A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.
