The big resort hotel of Unazuki, three minutes from the station, whose selling point is the terraced Tanayu view bath over the valley. The water is Unazuki's gentle simple spring and most of the tubs are filtered and recirculated, so come for the view rather than the water. Day-use runs on a narrow afternoon window and gets you one assigned bath with no private option. Note the outright ban on tattooed visitors entering the building.

The baths

Open-air bath

Tanayu, a terraced view bath high on the building looking over the Kurobe valley, and the Daikurobe open-air bath. Day visitors are assigned by gender - women get Tanayu, men get Daikurobe - so you cannot choose.

Indoor bath

Indoor baths with a dry sauna attached to Daikurobe. The indoor baths and Tanayu run on recirculated, filtered water with added water and heating; only the Daikurobe open-air bath and the private baths are free-flowing from the source.

Private (kashikiri) bath

Three private baths, 1,650 yen per room for 50 minutes, free-flowing from the source. Bookable only at the front desk after check-in - overnight guests only, no advance reservation, and explicitly not available to day visitors.

A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.

Day visit price: ¥1,200
1,200 yen on weekdays and 1,500 yen on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, towel included. Day visitors cannot use the private baths, and the hotel can refuse day-use entirely when it is full or during maintenance, so phone before travelling.
Staying overnight: Yes
Getting there: In Unazuki Onsen at the mouth of the Kurobe Gorge, 3 minutes on foot from Unazuki-onsen Station on the Toyama Chiho Railway. The shuttle bus that used to run from Kurobe-Unazuki-Onsen Shinkansen Station was discontinued in February 2022, so from the Shinkansen you now change to the local railway or take a taxi.
