Strong sodium chloride brine, free-flowing from the source and hypertonic, in a modern bathhouse built into the Himi seafood market on the bay. The water is the reason to come; the setting is a market car park rather than anywhere natural. Being inside Banyagai means food, a foot bath and the fish market are all a few steps away, and it is open until 23:00.

950 yen for junior high school age and above, 500 yen for elementary age and below, 100 yen for under-threes. Open all year, though it closes occasionally for maintenance. Towels are 200 yen to buy and bath towels 300 yen to rent.

Getting there
Inside Himi Banyagai, the seafood market complex on Himi harbour on the west side of Toyama Bay, about 25 minutes by train from Takaoka on the JR Himi Line and then a bus or taxi from Himi Station. The same site has the fish market, food stalls and a foot bath, so the bath is one stop on a half-day out rather than a destination on its own. Open until 23:00.
