A public lodge inn in the Gokayama valley, useful as a cheap bath and a base between the two World Heritage villages and Shirakawa-go. The water is an alkaline simple spring that comes out of the ground at only 31.4C, so it is a gentle bath rather than a characterful one, and the inn does not publish how it is heated. The setting is the draw: rice terraces and mountains, with the Kaminashi bus stop and Murakami-ke five minutes away.

600 yen for adults, 300 yen for children, 100 yen for ages 3 and up, free under 3. The front desk handles day-use reception from 10:00 to 21:00 even though bathing starts at 13:00. Bath towels rent for 200 yen. The men's and women's baths swap once a month.

At Kaminashi in the Gokayama valley, between the two World Heritage gassho-zukuri villages of Suganuma and Ainokura and about 30 minutes by car from Shirakawa-go. Take the Kaetsuno bus for Shirakawa-go/Ogimachi or the World Heritage bus from Johana Station on the JR Johana Line (about 30 minutes), or from Shirakawa-go (about 40 minutes), get off at Kaminashi, cross the Ohira bridge and walk 5 minutes. Murakami-ke, an Important Cultural Property farmhouse, and the Kokiriko folk-song village are at the same bus stop.
