One minute from JR Higashi-Beppu Station and open from 5:30, with murals of Mt Takasaki and Mt Tsurumi on the men's and women's walls and smaller drawings hidden around the room. You pay at a bandai desk and walk down a long flight of steps to a single old-style room where the changing area and the bath are one space.

The baths

Indoor bath

Simple spring in an old-style bathroom where the changing area and bath are one room. Murals by the illustrator Izuru Aminaka - Mt Takasaki on the men's side, Mt Tsurumi on the women's - plus smaller drawings hidden around the room. High ceiling, wide wash area, small tub. You pay at a bandai desk and walk down a long flight of steps to the bath.
