The reason to put this inn on a tattoo-aware list: its own FAQ says outright that tattooed guests are welcome in the private open-air baths, and day visitors can book one for 2,200 yen for 50 minutes without staying the night. There are two of them on the top floor with Mikawa Bay laid out in front. The main baths, both facing the sea, are 1,500 yen for day visitors from 11:00 to 15:00 but are not open to tattooed bathers. The water itself is a gentle alkaline simple spring the house calls 'bihakusen' - the view is the draw, not the minerals.

Indoor bath

Two main bath halls looking out over Mikawa Bay - Fusumi-no-yu for women with a mist sauna and jacuzzi, Kosai-no-yu for men with a sauna and jacuzzi. Open to house guests 06:00-09:30 and 11:00-24:00.

Open to day visitors

Private (kashikiri) bath

Two top-floor private open-air baths, Tsuki-monogatari and Hoshi-monogatari, with the bay in front of them. 1,100 yen a head for 50 minutes for house guests; day visitors 2,200 yen. This is the route open to tattooed guests.

Getting there: At the tip of the Nishiura peninsula in Gamagori, facing Mikawa Bay. From Gamagori Station take a Meitetsu bus (about 30 minutes), or ride the Meitetsu Gamagori Line to Nishiura Station (about 10 minutes) and then a bus (about 8 minutes); the inn will collect guests from Nishiura Station if you phone ahead.
