A public-lodge hotel in the woods at Kojigoku with its own sulphur source - milky white, free-flowing through every bath including the private one, from a spring that gives 440 tonnes a day. Day visitors get the same water from 11:00 to 18:00 for 880 yen, and a 50-minute private room for 2,500 yen if one is free, though day visitors cannot book it ahead. Quiet woodland setting; the price of that is being off the village strip.

In the Kojigoku area below the main Unzen Onsen village, surrounded by woodland, and sharing its site with the Kojigoku Onsenkan bathhouse. Unzen is about 1 hour 15 minutes by Shimatetsu bus from Isahaya Station or about 1 hour 40 minutes by Kenei bus from Nagasaki Station; from the village stop the Kojigoku area is a further walk or a short drive. 63 rooms, check-in 15:00.
