Can you bathe here with a tattoo?
This is the question we built the site around, so we answer it per situation.
Visiting for the day
The tattoo policy is not stated publicly. Please contact the facility.
Staying overnight
The tattoo policy is not stated publicly. A private or in-room bath is available, which is often an option for tattooed guests.
How it scores
Every onsen on this site is scored on the same five things.
The baths
Open-air bath
Rabie, the view open-air bath, sits at the top of Mount Koyama at about 160 m, in a separate building reached by a garden path, and looks out over the Chikugo Plain, the Chikugo River and the Mino mountains. Each side has a sauna with a large picture window. This is the only bath open to day visitors.
Indoor bath
A large indoor bath on the first floor of the main building, also facing the Chikugo Plain. Overnight guests only, 5:00-9:00 and from check-in to 24:00. The hotel notes that the indoor bath and the open-air bath are in different buildings, not one bathroom.
In-room bath
Some rooms have their own open-air or view bath - Japanese-style, Western-style and mixed types are offered. Overnight guests only.
A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.
