Can you bathe here with a tattoo?

The strongest water in Yunoyama on the published numbers: two of the hotel's own sources, the main one delivering 550 litres a minute at 45.2C from 1,300 m down, run through the baths undiluted and allowed to overflow rather than recirculate. The open-air baths are genuinely large - 340 sqm on the women's side - and a weekday soak costs 700 yen from 10 am. It is a simple alkaline spring, so the feel is soft rather than dramatic. Closed Fridays. Tattoos are refused.

Every onsen on this site is scored against the same written rubric, and every score has been reviewed by the editor. The ones marked Visited were also bathed in personally.
