The inn that carries the old name of the spring - Yunoyama was called Shika-no-yu, the deer's bath, after wounded deer were said to heal in it. For a tattooed traveller the interest is the pair of private baths bookable on a day visit, but the hotel publishes no tattoo rule at all, so nothing here can be taken as settled without a phone call. The water is colourless and alkaline with no free-flow claim. There is a moon-viewing deck with massage chairs to sit on afterwards, and the Gozaisho ropeway is a short walk up the village.

Private (kashikiri) bath

Two private baths, Hinoki-no-yu (cypress) and Makomo-no-yu, 3,300 yen per 60 minutes plus the bathing fee. The day-use page offers them to day visitors, while the bath page lists private-bath hours as 15:00-22:00; confirm the slot when you book at the front desk.

Getting there
In the Yunoyama Onsen village below Mt Gozaisho. The hotel collects guests from Kintetsu Yunoyama-Onsen Station on request - phone on arrival. Direct buses from Nagoya take about an hour, and it is roughly 5 minutes by car from Komono IC.
