A hillside bathhouse in the orchards of the Yasato basin whose selling point is the open-air bath facing Mt. Tsukuba. The water is a weak radioactive simple spring drawn from 1,300 m at only 25.1C, so it is reheated and gentle rather than characterful. Two bathing halls swap between men and women each day, one with a dry sauna and one with a mist sauna, and there is a restaurant and a farm stand attached. Tattoos, and even cover stickers, are refused.

Getting there
At 1416 Obata, Ishioka City, in the Yasato farming basin below Mt. Tsukuba. About 30 minutes by bus or taxi from Ishioka Station on the JR Joban Line, or 20 minutes by car from the Tsuchiura-Kita IC. Buses are infrequent, so most visitors drive.
