The everyday bath of the village: one room, one tiled tub, an honesty box and nothing else, for 200 yen. Men's and women's sides are separate, unlike the free Motoyu down at the river, so it is the easier of the two for a first-time visitor. Bring a towel.

The baths

Indoor bath

A plain tiled tub in a single pale-blue room where the changing space and the bath are one and the same. The source runs in hot and you add tap water yourself to bring it to the temperature you want; the overflow spills continuously over the rim.

Below Torin Ruri-do (the Yakushi hall) in the Tsuetate hot-spring village, Oguni Town. Free shared car park for the village's public baths; a toilet is inside the building. Reaching Tsuetate without a car means an infrequent bus from JR Hita station on the Oita side.
