The open-air terrace is the whole point: a standing bath deep enough to come up to your chest, looking straight out at the East China Sea with aircraft coming down onto Naha Airport's second runway a few hundred metres away, and the sun setting behind the Kerama Islands. The water is a strong sodium chloride brine from 1,000 m down, salty and genuinely warming. What it is not is remote - you are on a small island wedged against the airport, with a shopping terrace next door, so the sound is planes rather than waves. Open from 6:00 to midnight, which makes it easy to fit around a flight.

Both bathhouses (Kinryu and Ginryu) have an indoor tub at around 41C, plus a cold plunge at about 17C.

Open-air bath

A wide open-air terrace with three tubs: a 120 cm-deep standing bath facing the sea and the second runway of Naha Airport, single-person jar baths, a rock bath (Kinryu) and a lying-down bath (Ginryu). Two saunas per side - a loyly sauna with heat-wave sessions five times a day, and a salt mist sauna.

Day visits: Yes — you can bathe without staying overnight.
6:00-24:00 (last entry 23:00), open year-round; may close in typhoons. The two bathhouses swap between men and women daily.
Day visit price: ¥2,000
2,000 yen for adults and 1,000 yen for children on any day, bathing tax and consumption tax included, with a bath towel and face towel provided. Hotel guests bathe free.
Staying overnight: Yes
Getting there: On Senagajima, a small island joined to the mainland by a causeway about 15 minutes by car from Naha Airport. The TK02 Umikaji Liner route bus stops in front of the hotel, running between Kokusai-dori in Naha and Nashiro Beach in Itoman. On weekends and public holidays the hotel also runs an airport shuttle (about 20 minutes, 250 yen for adults) from bus stop 6 at the domestic terminal and from the south exit of Akamine monorail station.
