The bathhouse of the Makino Kogen highland park - campsite, ski slope, ground-golf fields and a gateway to the Takashima Trail - so it is where hikers and campers wash off at the end of the day. The water is a low-temperature radon and fluoride alkaline simple spring, gentle rather than distinctive. The park setting at the foot of the mountains is the real appeal. No tattoo rule is published.

Two gender-separated bath halls, Doudan (with sauna) and Furin. Also a mixed swimsuit hot-spring pool with a sauna, weekdays only.

10:00-21:00 (last entry 20:30). Closed every Wednesday (the following day if Wednesday is a holiday) since 1 April 2026, plus occasional maintenance closures

¥850
850 yen for ages 12 and up, 450 yen for ages 3-11. The swimsuit 'Bade' hot-spring pool (weekdays only) is 800/450 yen, or 1,300/700 yen together with the baths. Towel sold at 250 yen, bath towel rented at 250 yen, swimsuit rental 360 yen. The weekly closing day moved to every Wednesday from April 2026; older listings show 2nd and 4th Wednesdays.

Getting there
At the Makino Kogen highland resort in Makino, northern Takashima. From JR Makino Station on the Kosei Line take the Takashima town bus (Makino Kogen line) to the Makino Kogen Onsen Sarasa stop. By car about 30 minutes from Kinomoto IC, or 80 minutes from Kyoto-Higashi IC via the Kosei Road.
