The one bathhouse in Shiga that openly sets aside tattoo-friendly hours - from 21:00 Monday to Thursday and from 22:00 Friday to Sunday, for a slightly higher late-entry fee. It sits right on Lake Biwa at the foot of Chomeiji, the temple at the top of 808 stone steps, with a tatami hall, reclining room and a terrace looking across the lake. The radium spring is its selling point, but no analysis or free-flow claim is published on the official site.

Mon-Thu 10:00-23:00; Fri, Sat, Sun and holidays 10:00-24:00. Closed for maintenance on consecutive days once a month, announced on the website (16-17 September 2026)

Adults (junior high and over) 1,200 yen Monday to Friday, 1,500 yen at weekends and on holidays. Late entry costs more: 1,500 yen after 21:00 Monday to Thursday, 1,800 yen after 22:00 Friday to Sunday and holidays - these are the tattoo-friendly hours. Elementary-school children 600/700 yen, preschoolers 400/500 yen; under-3s only in a baby bath, never in the main tubs. A rental towel is included (or a free drink if you don't need one). All charges are paid on the way out.

On the lakeshore below Chomeiji Temple, north-west of Omi-Hachiman. About 25 minutes by bus from JR Omi-Hachiman Station. Check the last bus back before planning a visit in the late-night tattoo-friendly hours - a car or taxi may be needed. Free car park (58 spaces).
