A plain municipal-style bathhouse set deep in the Kutsuki valley, where the open-air bath and big windows look straight onto forested mountains. The alkaline simple spring surfaces at 26C, so it is heated, and the analysis is published but nothing is said about free flow. The park around it has a restaurant, a summer pool, cabins, a campsite and trails, which makes it an easy half-day, but getting there means a bus plus a phoned-for shuttle. Tattoos are barred from the baths and the pool.

Tengu-no-yu, a bath hall with large windows onto the mountains, plus a sauna. On weekends and holidays two extra baths, Ki-no-yu (wood) and Ishi-no-yu (stone), open from 14:00.

10:00-21:00 (last entry 20:30). Closing days are posted on the Green Park Omoide-no-Mori calendar; the whole park shuts on those days
Day visit price
¥850
850 yen for junior-high age and over, 400 yen for children aged 3 and up. Bath plus the indoor pool (swimsuits, open mid-March to end of September) 1,600/800 yen. The Kojaku bus company sells a return bus ticket bundled with bath entry at the JR Adogawa Station tourist office (weekends and holidays, 9:00-13:00). Some travel sites still show 750 yen; the official price is 850 yen.

Inside the Green Park Omoide-no-Mori forest park in Kutsuki, Takashima. From JR Adogawa Station on the Kosei Line take the Kojaku bus to Kutsuki Gakko-mae, walk one minute to the Michi-no-Eki Kutsuki Shinhonjin roadside station, and phone the park (0740-38-2770) for its free shuttle for bath visitors (runs 9:30-16:00 outbound, 11:00-17:00 back). By car about 1 hour 20 minutes from central Kyoto via Route 367.
