湯の峰温泉公衆浴場 · Yunomine Onsen

Policy not published (day visit)

Can you bathe here with a tattoo?

This is the question we built the site around, so we answer it per situation.

Visiting for the day

They have not said

The tattoo policy is not stated publicly. A private (kashikiri) bath is available, which is often an option for tattooed guests.

The village's ordinary bathhouse, rebuilt in 2022, with a normal tub and a 'kusuri-yu' filled with undiluted water from one of the oldest recorded springs in Japan. No open-air bath and no view, but there is a small family bath you can take privately, and this is also the counter where you take your numbered tag for the Tsuboyu next door.

Scored from official photos, maps and transport information — not from a visit.

The baths

Indoor bath

Two shared indoor baths: 'ippan-yu', the ordinary bath, and 'kusuri-yu', which is filled with undiluted source water. Rebuilt and reopened in 2022. No open-air bath.

Open to day visitors

Private (kashikiri) bath

'Kazoku-yu' - a small family bath you can take privately, adult 700 yen / under-12 300 yen. Useful if you would rather not use the shared baths.

Open to day visitors

A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.
