Policy not published (overnight)

Can you bathe here with a tattoo?

This is the question we built the site around, so we answer it per situation.

Staying overnight

They have not said

The tattoo policy is not stated publicly. A private or in-room bath is available, which is often an option for tattooed guests.

One of the Wakura inns that has reopened since the earthquake, up on the hillside above Nanao Bay on the same saline water as the town Soyu. The three private open-air baths that gave the hotel its view are closed for earthquake repairs, which leaves a ground-floor public bath with nothing to look at - come for the water and the room, not the scenery.

Scored from official photos, maps and transport information — not from a visit.

The baths

Indoor bath

Separate men's and women's public baths on the ground floor, using Wakura's saline hot spring water.

Private (kashikiri) bath

Three private open-air baths with a view exist, but the hotel states they are under repair for the time being because of earthquake damage. Treat the private baths as unavailable until the hotel says otherwise - which matters if you were counting on them as a way around a tattoo rule.

A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.
