The best-preserved wooden ryokan building in Ito, kept as a museum you can also bathe in - but only at weekends and holidays, and only in fixed 105-minute gender slots. The appeal is the architecture rather than the view.

The baths

Indoor bath

A period bathhouse tiled floor to ceiling, with a black-rust karajishi (lion) spout carved by Morita Toko. Two baths, large and small, alternating between men and women through the day.

Yes — you can bathe without staying overnight.
11:00-19:00, weekends and public holidays ONLY. Men and women swap between the large and small baths: 11:00-12:45 and 15:00-16:45 (men in the large bath), 13:00-14:45 and 17:00-19:00 (women in the large bath).

500 yen for adults, 300 yen for children (elementary school and under); free under 2, but children not yet out of nappies are not admitted. The bathing fee includes admission to the building.
