The open-air baths sit directly above the Sendatsu stream, and the inn runs two distinct waters - the iron-bearing gold spring and the clear silver one - so you can compare them in a single visit. The best-kept building in the Nyuto valley and the bus stops at the door, but there is nothing to do here except bathe and look at the river.

The baths

Open-air bath

The riverside open-air baths look straight onto the Sendatsu stream. Semboku City's leaflet lists one men's, one women's and two mixed baths here, so the mixed sections are avoidable.

Two waters: the iron-bearing 'Kin-no-yu' (gold) and the clear 'Gin-no-yu' (silver).

Private (kashikiri) bath

A private bath, 'Yawaragi-no-yu (Gin-no-yu)', is listed on the bath page; whether day visitors may book it is not stated.

A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.
