Syoenso Hozugawatei
湯の花温泉 松園荘 保津川亭 · Yunohana Onsen
Can you bathe here with a tattoo?
This is the question we built the site around, so we answer it per situation.
Visiting for the day
The tattoo policy is not stated publicly. Please contact the facility.
Staying overnight
The tattoo policy is not stated publicly. A private or in-room bath is available, which is often an option for tattooed guests.
How it scores
Every onsen on this site is scored on the same five things.
The baths
Indoor bath
'Daikoku no Yu', a 126 sqm bath hall for up to 54 people with a main tub, jet bath, jacuzzi and milky bath, plus a medicinal bath using binchotan charcoal and bakuhanseki stone and a hinoki cypress bath. Spring is a simple weak radioactive spring (weakly alkaline, hypotonic, low temperature). For overnight guests the baths run 15:00-24:00 and 6:00-9:30.
Open-air bath
Stone open-air bath at the far end of the bath wing, surrounded by greenery with a waterfall and a stream.
Private (kashikiri) bath
A private bath at 4,400 yen (tax included) per room for 80 minutes, bookable by phone, e-mail or as an option on the official booking form. The published slots all start in the evening (15:30-16:50 through 21:30-22:50), so it reads as an overnight-guest facility; the inn has not said whether bath-only day visitors can book it. There is also a family/accessible bath on the 1st floor.
A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.
