A satoyama inn in the Kameoka hills whose bath halls are floored with bathroom tatami - less slippery, and warmer underfoot in winter - alongside an open rock outdoor bath on the radon-bearing Yunohana spring. Day bathers are welcome but excluded from the free shuttle, and the inn states plainly that it has no private or family bath.

The baths

Indoor bath

Both the men's and women's bath halls are floored with tatami made for bathrooms - less slippery, and warmer underfoot in winter. There is a shampoo bar with three choices each for men and women. Overnight guests bathe 15:00-25:00 and 5:00-10:00.

An open rock-built outdoor bath. Source is Yunohana Onsen, a simple weak radioactive spring (weakly alkaline, hypotonic, low temperature) with radon.

In-room bath

Some rooms have their own natural hot spring open-air bath. Note the FAQ states clearly that there is NO private (kashikiri) or family bath at this inn - so an in-room bath is the only non-shared option, and only for overnight guests.

A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.

Mon-Fri 12:00-21:00 (last entry 20:00). Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, days before a holiday and the Obon period split into two sessions: 12:00-15:00 (last entry 14:30) and 17:30-21:00 (last entry 20:00), charged separately. Irregular closing days.

Adults 900 yen on weekdays and 1,100 yen at weekends and on public holidays; ages 4 to primary school 450 / 550 yen. A face towel is included in the price; bath towel rental is 200 yen. No advance booking is taken. On split-session days the afternoon and evening sessions are billed separately. Day visitors are not eligible for the shuttle bus, but may use the free foot bath in the garden (7:30-22:00, 8:00-21:00 in winter).

Getting there
1-1 Doroga-fuchi, Hiramatsu, Honme-cho, Kameoka (postal code 621-0251), in the hills of Kameoka. A free shuttle runs from the north exit of JR Kameoka Station (about 25 minutes, reservation required, from one person) at 14:40/15:40/16:40/17:40, returning at 9:00/10:00/11:00, plus pick-ups from Torokko Kameoka Station at 14:30/16:30. The shuttle is for overnight guests - day bathers are excluded. 100 free parking spaces.
