A 700-yen day-use bath on the road into Shiobara, drawing its own source. The reason to stop is the open-air bath, which sits on high ground and looks out over open country rather than into a fence - unusual at this price. Inside there is a sauna, a cold plunge and a banquet-hall dining room doing soba, tempura bowls and yuba sashimi, so it works as a lunch-plus-bath stop. Opening hours are only published on a monthly calendar, which is the one thing to check before you drive out.

Getting there
At 1425-211 Sekiya, Nasushiobara, on the approach road to the Shiobara valley and named after the Mikaeri suspension bridge further up the gorge. Effectively a driving stop - there are buses along the Shiobara Onsen route from Nishinasuno or Nasu-Shiobara Station, but no station nearby.
