Kitsuregawa markets itself as one of Japan's three great skin-beautifying springs alongside Ureshino in Saga and Hinokami in Shimane, and this is the cheaper of the town's two municipal baths. The water is a sodium chloride spring, weakly alkaline and hot at source, faintly yellow and noticeably smooth on the skin. Indoor baths at two temperatures plus a rock open-air bath, clean and unfussy, open from 7 in the morning. There is no station in town, so plan on a bus from Ujiie or a car.

Every onsen on this site is scored against the same written rubric, and every score has been reviewed by the editor. The ones marked Visited were also bathed in personally.
