Noboribetsu Grand Hotel

Can you bathe here with a tattoo?
This is the question we built the site around, so we answer it per situation.
Visiting for the day
The tattoo policy is not stated publicly. A private (kashikiri) bath is available, which is often an option for tattooed guests.
Staying overnight
The tattoo policy is not stated publicly. A private or in-room bath is available, which is often an option for tattooed guests.
How it scores
Every onsen on this site is scored on the same five things.
The baths
Indoor bath
Dome-roofed 'Roman bath' hall dating from the 1938 building, plus three spring types.
Open-air bath
Japanese garden open-air bath beside a waterfall. The 'Oni sauna' alternates between men and women by date (odd dates women, even dates men).
Private (kashikiri) bath
One family bath (salt spring, free-flowing), 50 minutes for 4,400 yen including tax, for up to 4 people with two washing stations. Reservation strongly advised as there is only one. Day visitors may use it but must also pay the day-use bathing fee on top.
A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.
