Arima Onsen Nakanobo Zuien
有馬温泉 中の坊瑞苑 · Arima Onsen
Can you bathe here with a tattoo?
This is the question we built the site around, so we answer it per situation.
Staying overnight
Tattoos are not allowed in the shared baths, but you can bathe in a private or in-room bath.

How it scores
Every onsen on this site is scored on the same five things.
The baths
Indoor bath
Shared baths available 14:00-24:00 on the day of arrival and 5:30-12:00 the next morning. Kinsen only in the shared baths.
Private (kashikiri) bath
Private family bath 'Jusen' with kinsen: 4,400 yen, reservation required, usable 6:30-22:30. This is the route the ryokan itself recommends to tattooed guests.
Private (kashikiri) bath
A FREE private open-air bath with ginsen (radon spring), locked from the inside, usable 6:30-22:30. Bring your own towel.
A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.
