A 70C sodium bicarbonate-chloride spring under the village's no-recirculation pledge, in a small bathhouse in the busiest part of Totsukawa. You come out into the village rather than into forest, and the free foot bath and drinking-spring point outside are worth the stop even if you do not bathe.

The baths

Indoor bath

A small village bathhouse in the middle of Totsukawa Onsen overlooking Lake Nitsuno. There is a free foot bath and hand bath outside, and a drinking-spring point - Totsukawa is one of the few Japanese springs whose water is approved for drinking.

Getting there
In the centre of Totsukawa Onsen beside Lake Nitsuno, close to the Totsukawa Onsen bus stop on the Nara Kotsu Yagi-Shingu route (three services a day each way, about four hours from Kintetsu Yamato-Yagi Station). Of the village's public baths this is the easiest to reach without a car.
