A quieter sotoyu ten minutes uphill from the village centre, where the water shifts between milky white, green and clear from one day to the next. Free and unstaffed like the rest, with a bare changing corner and no facilities at all, and it closes an hour earlier than its neighbours.

Indoor bath only. The water shifts colour between milky white, emerald and clear depending on the day, which earned it the nickname 'goshiki-no-yu' (five-coloured bath). Source temperature about 55C.

Free, unstaffed, with a donation box inside for the neighbourhood association that cleans and maintains it. Note that Shin-yu closes an hour earlier than most of the other sotoyu.

Getting there: On the upper, quieter side of Nozawa Onsen village, about a 10-minute walk uphill from the central O-yu bathhouse. Bus from JR Iiyama Station (Hokuriku Shinkansen) to the village, then on foot.
