At about 40C at source this is the gentlest of Nozawa's thirteen free bathhouses and the sensible first stop if the others have already scalded you. It is a plain wooden room a few minutes from the village crossroads, with a donation box and nothing more.

The baths

Indoor bath

Indoor bath with a hot and a cooler tub. Source temperature is about 40C, which makes this the gentlest of Nozawa's 13 sotoyu and the easiest one for a first-timer who finds the others scalding. Named after a bear said to have found the spring.
