Indoor bath

Private (kashikiri) bath
'Meimei-yudokoro Karikyu', 11 private rental family baths with source-fed hot spring, from 4,000 yen per room per hour, reserved online. NOTE: under an Osaka City ordinance these rooms may only be used by actual family members, and the facility's tattoo ban applies to entering the building at all, so this is NOT a workaround for tattooed visitors.
A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.

- ¥1,0001,000 yen on weekdays, 1,100 yen on weekends and holidays (junior-high age and above); this includes the hot spring, open-air baths and sauna. Children up to elementary age 550 / 610 yen. The yakuseki sauna is a separate 1,080 / 1,180 yen.

Why not the train: the last leg to an onsen is usually a local bus with nowhere to put a suitcase. A fixed-price car is booked in English and quoted before you travel, tolls and fuel included.
