Indoor baths on genuine kuroyu (black water) natural hot spring, the dark peaty water characteristic of the Kanto plain. The operator advertises nine different natural hot spring baths, some using bamboo, charcoal or wave-stone tubs.

- ¥1,0801,080 yen on weekdays for the unlimited-time plan; 1,180 yen on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays and peak periods. Shorter options exist: a 60-minute 'Karasu no Gyozui' plan at 900 yen weekday / 1,000 yen weekend (300 yen surcharge if you overrun), and a 'Night Karasu' plan from 21:00 at 600 yen weekday / 700 yen weekend. Shampoo, body soap, face soap, lotion and hairdryers are provided.

Why not the train: the last leg to an onsen is usually a local bus with nowhere to put a suitcase. A fixed-price car is booked in English and quoted before you travel, tolls and fuel included.
