The practical way to bathe in Akiu without a car: a free day-use shuttle leaves Sendai Station at 9:30 and brings you back at 15:00, and the hotel is large enough to fill the day between. The water is not documented as free-flowing and the garden open-air bath looks at a garden, so treat this as convenience rather than character; Rairaikyo gorge and Akiu Otaki are a further drive.

Day visit price: ¥1,320
Bath-only course 1,320 yen for adults, 660 yen for children, plus 70 yen bathing tax per adult. A bath-plus-pool course is 2,430 yen (3,430 yen in the summer peak, 18 July to 23 August 2026) but the pool runs only at weekends, on public holidays and in special periods. Baths are cleaned 14:00-15:00 daily and the whole day-use operation shuts on a few maintenance days each year.

Getting there: Akiu is the hot-spring district of Sendai city, about 50 minutes by Miyagi Kotsu bus from Sendai Station west exit. The hotel also runs a free day-use shuttle from Sendai Station east exit, leaving 9:30 and returning from the hotel at 15:00, seats limited and reservation required.
