The comfortable one of the two Tosenji bathhouses: renovated in local timber, barrier-free, with a rest room and a place to eat, and the same 60C simple sulphur water that the village guarantees is never recirculated, reheated, diluted or chlorinated. Neither the village nor the prefecture claims a view from the tub, so the outlook is treated as ordinary here.

The baths

Indoor bath

Rebuilt in wood from Totsukawa's own forests; the indoor bath was moved up to the second floor in the renovation so that it is level with the open-air tub. Body soap and 2-in-1 shampoo provided.

The village tourism association notes that after the renovation you can move between the indoor bath and the open-air bath without dressing again.

Getting there
In the Tosenji hamlet near the Totsukawa village office, about four hours by the Nara Kotsu Yagi-Shingu bus from Kintetsu Yamato-Yagi Station (three services a day each way). There is no railway in the village and most visitors drive; parking is small.
