A municipal bathhouse built around a single idea: a wide picture window with the Sea of Japan filling it, timed for sunset. Plain inside and no open-air bath, and tattooed visitors are refused entry to the building, but it is the obvious place to bathe after walking the Tojinbo cliffs a few minutes up the coast.

Indoor bath

A municipal day-use bathhouse whose whole point is the view: a wide picture-window bath looking straight out over the Sea of Japan, timed for sunset. Indoor bathing only.

Day visit price: ¥500
Adults (junior high school and above) 500 yen, children of elementary school age and under 200 yen. Closed on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
Staying overnight: No
Getting there: At 2-18-1 Yado, Mikuni-cho, Sakai City, on the Fukui coast close to the Tojinbo sea cliffs. The nearest station is Mikuniminato on the Echizen Railway; there is free parking for about 80 cars. Usually combined with a visit to Tojinbo rather than visited on its own.
