The baths
Open-air bath
The main bath is a half-open-air (han-rotenburo) bath with one entire wall opened to a view of Mt. Yusaka and the Sukumo River. Sodium chloride spring (Hakone Yumoto Onsen). Staying guests only.
In-room bath
Only SOME of the 34 rooms have a private open-air bath: the 'Hakone Gokochi Suite' (over 110 sqm) and the 'Hakone Gokochi-no-ma open-air-bath Western room' with a terrace. Other room types do not have one.
A private bath means nobody else is in the water with you — often the practical answer if the shared baths are closed to tattooed guests.

- 230 Yumoto-chaya, Hakone-machi; about 7 minutes by car from Hakone-Yumoto Station (90 minutes from Shinjuku by Odakyu Romancecar). The inn runs no courtesy shuttle, but the Hakone Tozan Bus (Kyu-Kaido line, stop 4) or the Hakone Yumoto ryokan orange shuttle bus (B course) stops at Kuzuhara, so a car is not required. Free parking, no reservation needed.
