The baths
Indoor bath
The municipal bathhouse set into Ikaho's stone stairway, about halfway up, so you can break the climb with a soak. Indoor bath only. Ikaho has two waters and English-language guides rarely explain the difference: Kogane-no-yu ('golden water') is the historic iron-bearing sulphate spring that turns rust-brown on contact with air, while Shirogane-no-yu ('silver water') is a weak, clear, odourless metasilicic-acid water tapped much later.

- ¥800Adults 800 yen; children, disabled visitors and over-65s 400 yen. Shibukawa residents pay 500 / 250 yen. Normally closed the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month (the following day if that is a public holiday), plus occasional inspection days; the city ran it every day through August 2026 and lists 8, 9 and 24 September 2026 as closed.

- On the Ishidan-gai stone stairway street in the middle of Ikaho, a short walk from Ikaho Shrine. Take a Kan-Etsu Kotsu bus from JR Shibukawa Station, or a Gunma Bus from Takasaki Station via Mizusawa; highway buses run from Ueno, Shinjuku and Tokyo Station.
